SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND MATURITY
As we plan the program for the fall, we have several opportunities to offer you - either for your own spiritual growth or for reaching out to others. Please let me know if you have other thoughts or ideas or would like to suggest a different time. If you wish to participate (or think you might) it would be helpful if you would let me know.
- Bible Study for adults will begin again on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 - noon. We will plan our discussions around the interests that participants request. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, October 6. Please speak to Rev. Howson if you think you may be interested. We have fun, we laugh, we dialogue, we listen for God's voice, we learn more about scripture, and our faith deepens - all in a community of mutual respect and cooperation.
- The Deacons are developing a Pastoral Care Team to coordinate our efforts more effectively. They will keep in touch with people, offer presence, prayers, help and support. If you are interested in participating, please call Eileen Ede, senior deacon.
- We will reorganize the Prayer Group. The participants will gather about once a month to pray together, to share, and to update each other. The first meeting will be Sunday, Sept 13 at 11:30 in the pastor's office.
- On Tuesday, Sept 22 at 7:30 p.m. we will have a healing service. All are welcome to participate. This service will be primarily for our own members and friends. Following it, the Deacons will discuss holding a quarterly or monthly service that is open to the community.
- We have 6-8 young people ready for confirmation. On Sunday, September 20 at 11:30 Rev. Howson will meet with the young people and their parents to see if they wish to begin a class this year or wait for the new pastor to arrive. As you all know, when our young people begin their journey, we all participate with them. They become a gift to all of us.
- Celebrating our Seniors; On Sunday, October 18th we are going to celebrate and give thanks for the heritage of faith, love and service given to us by our seniors. And we are going to honor Jane Tedeschi for receiving the Congregational Medal. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for a very special day.
Blessings and peace,
Mary Lou
